I would like to work towards getting 4 new programs added to the approved IowaSTEM programs available to educators for the purpose of intriguing the children. All four of the programs could eventually be integrated into the CORE curriculum because they are all geared towards today's day and age and are technology focused. The 4 programs are 1.) Arduino http://www.arduino.cc/ 2.) Raspberry Pi http://www.raspberrypi.org 3.) OLPC One Laptop Per Child http://one.laptop.org/ and last but not least 4.) Little Bits http://littlebits.cc/ - As a concerned parent, I would be willing to take on the job of improving the educational curriculum that is offered to our children on a more proactive basis. But I would need the support of everybody that utilizes the Iowa City Community School District resources either to have their child/children educated or otherwise. In order to make something this big happen, I would need to organize a team of individuals that could facilitate the following areas: A.) Grant writing and Fund raising. B.) Planning C.) Curriculum development. D.) Coordination and Administration. E.) Implementation and on going facilitation.

If we could all come together we could get many, highly technical gadgets in the hands of our children on a daily basis that would hopefully spark and fuel their curiosity to the point of finding actual desire to study. Food for thought.
